Horse Riding in Connemara
For those who would like to experience Connemara on horseback there are a wide range of options available from Connemara’s riding centres. The closest, Knockillaree Riding Centre, is 7kms away and can quite often bring the horses to us here at Currarevagh.
Whether it is an afternoon trek, some intensive training or a trail ride that will take you through the most breathtaking scenery you have ever witnessed the choice is all yours. Enjoy the beauty of a constantly changing landscape and enjoy unhindered access to Atlantic beaches, mountains, forest trails and lake shores.
Beginners can rely on instructors to help them quickly establish balance and confidence on a horse that has been specially selected for them, taking into account the rider’s weight, height, courage and fitness. Adult beginners need have no worries because the horses they ride are steady and sensible and will be doing their very best to please. With an unspoiled landscape and beautiful scenic views there are several excellent riding and equestrian centres in Connemara that cater to private or small groups:

The Point Treking Centre - at Ballyconnelly, beach treks, 60 minutes away;
Inishboffin Equestrian Centre - on Inishboffin Island, the only riding centre on any island off Ireland. Takes about 2 hours to get there including the ferry but unique.
