Exploring The Burren

Guests wishing to explore The Burren region of Ireland, Currarevagh Country House Hotel in Connemara enjoys a central location ideal for away days exploring in the beautiful west of Ireland

The Burren (meaning the “stony place” in English), has a unique significance due to its botanical and geological make up. It is located in North County Clare, approximately 1 ½ hours drive south of Currarevagh Guesthouse. An area of over 300 sq kilometres of exposed limestone, giving a unique and somewhat eerie panorama, it is well worth a day exploring. Famous for its rich flora, it is one of Europe’s richest botanical areas and home to over 700 different plant species. Apart from touring the area, one can visit the nearby Cliffs of Moher, or go underground in the Ailwee Caves.
