Exploring Galway City

Galway city is 21 kilometres from Currarevagh Guesthouse, generally a 35 minute drive. The largest city in the West of Ireland, Galway has a vibrant feel filled with entertaining street life and is a constant hub of activity. The “City of the Tribes” has a provincial feel where one can happily spend a day exploring the rich culture and many sites and activities, from the Saturday market beside St. Nicholas’ Cathedral, to small independent craft shops and relaxed pedestrian friendly streets.

Galway’s rich culture is celebrated in many world renowned festivals, including the Arts Festival (July), Galway Race week (end of July, early August) and Oyster festival (early September).
