Welcome to Currarevagh Country House
Victorian Country House, set in 180 acres of private parkland
Currarevagh House is a gracious early Victorian Country House, set in 180 acres of private parkland and woodland bordering on Lough Corrib. We offer an oasis of privacy for guests in an idyllic, undisturbed natural environment, providing exceptional personal service with a high standard of accommodation and old fashioned, traditional character. A genuine warm welcome from the owners.
Currarevagh (pronounced “Curra – reeva”) still retains the atmosphere of a bygone age where the emphasis is on hospitality and service. It is run along the lines of a private country house rather than as an impersonal hotel and while extremely comfortable it is not pretentious. The tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking a relaxing few days, enjoying our house and grounds or exploring the beauty of Lough Corrib, Connemara, Galway and beyond. Please note Currarevagh is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
A Connemara Country House
Our family has welcomed guests to Currarevagh for 130 years, making us Ireland's longest running accommodation establishment in the same family. The house is a hidden oasis of calm and an escape to a dignified time where the guest comes first and your relaxation and enjoyment are paramount.
Food at Currarevagh House
Our food is the main reason guests return to us so often; we love it and take it seriously, have an obsessive commitment to local good produce and small independent farmers, growers and sellers. Dinner menu changes daily; breakfast sees a huge home made effort also. And then there’s our daily picnics and Afternoon Tea for everyone staying with us.
Local Connemara Activities
Guests at Currarevagh House can relax in the peace and tranquillity of the woods, gardens and surrounding waters of Lough Corrib. We have a beautiful wood fired right on the lake shore. The idyllic setting of the Hotel in Oughterard means all of Connemara in on our door step, from The Sky Road to Kylemore Abbey and beyond to the beauty of Roundstone and Clifden. The ferry to the Aran Islands is only 30 minutes drive.
