Rich in the language, culture and
heritage of Ireland, the Aran Islands provide a popular day
trip from Currarevagh.
Comprising of three islands, Inis Mor, Inis Meain, and Inis
Oirr (literally translated, not very creatively, as the “big
island”, the “middle island”, and the “south
island” respectively), they are situated in Galway Bay
and can be reached by ferry from Rossaveal, a 30 minute drive
from us.
A fascinating tradition of Irish culture has existed on the
islands for thousands of years, with ancient monuments and prehistoric
stone forts of particular interest. Coupled with the timeless
natural landscape weathered by wild seas, and dramatic cliffs
are the meandering stone walls and quiet beaches. Not to be
missed.
